I have that best news possible.
I got a letter from the SQA last week, and it told me that I have past the NC Media course - Hooray!
I hope that with this victory, I'll be able to find a good job in the future. I have a few ideas, but I need to narrow the list down. I hope I will find a good one.
Wish me and all of us from the NC Media course at Inverness College the best of luck for our futures.

Chasing Sketchbooks, Workbooks and Lecturers
I have been "Chasing Tails" at college on Friday late afternoon, Saturday morning and Monday morning.
On Friday, I was having a day out seeing the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and by when I got home and checked my college emails, I discovered that I had an email telling me that if I had left any sketchbooks or workbooks that wasn't handed in and had left laying around in a classroom, it will be take and thrown out. And if I wanted them back, I had to pick them up by 5pm, it was between 5pm and 6pm when I went to college. If I wanted to collect any of my sketchbooks and workbooks, I could pick them up at the reception by the same time.
But when I got to the reception, it was closed (Mondays to Thursdays closing time is about 8pm, Fridays is 5pm). So I tried again on Saturday morning, but couldn't anywhere with the reception, so I tried again on Monday.
I got my workbook for Digital Imaging, went to check my college emails, where I met Brain and he gave me the paperwork I handed in for Media Project. I went looking Iain for further help, he and the rest of the lecturers was at meetings, so I had wait before I found them and Katie gave me my Comics and Graphic Novels sketchbook, telling me that I had past the class, but only just. I got my Animation workbook at the reception where Alison had left it for me.
I'm glad that I have got my sketchbooks and workbooks and that I have past all of my classes, just the Intro to the Media Industry class to worry about and wait for.
Wish all the best of luck for all of us.

Final Day of NC Media is Here
Today is our last day of NC Media, and possibly my last day of Inverness College.
In Comics, Katie had to leave due to being in a meeting that was marking the work, so she just made sure that our work was done and allowed us to carry on with any other work needed done. It was the same for Digital Imaging class, and the classroom was locked for the whole time the class was on. After the time for the Digital Imaging, Alison, who saw us during Katie's class, and was able to do similar work Katie was, arranged for us to visit the Comics class at 2pm so we could see our animation videos, which we viewed twice to allow Iain, who was passing to see them too. I must admit, we all did good jobs with our animations.
In Media Project, Brian helped pointed out what I needed to have printed and handed in.
On Thursday and Friday, there was the Youth Parliament visiting the college and I met old friend from school, Andrew Jarvie.
In my spare time, I do story writing, and a bit of poetry, but not much. I do a Writing Blog that Gordon suggested I could do with this blog when I first started blogging. Here's a link to a poem I wrote the other day. But here's what I think is a better version.
The sun shines
The rain falls
As the day comes
As the bright sun falls
Today is the day
Today has been coming
The day I kept at bay
The day deep within knew is dawning
My good work is done
My good work is handed over
To stay, what can be done?
To stay, what more work is not over?
Alas, the end of the day is now upon me
Alas, the end of my long era is now upon me
I hope that you've enjoyed my poems.
Hard to believe that it's now the end of the NC Media course, and I have enjoyed it. I may have doubts on the Comics and Graphic Novels class, but I'll leave it to the markers to decide on how I did.
What's harder to believe is that it's my last proper course at Inverness College University of the Highlands and Islands. I have been at college since August/September 2010, and I have had my ups and downs. My first course HNC Accounting proved too hard, so I attempted NQ IT Applications, and it lead me onto the Admin and IT NC and HNC courses before suggested the HNC Computing. The Computing course was interesting, but I had entered at too high a level, even doing it part time, but I don't blame anybody for that. It didn't work out, but I gave a try and it lead me onto the NC Digital Media Level 5, where my blogging began as it was one of the classes. Thanks Gordon.
It was then that an era of Inverness College ended with moving from the old campuses, Midmills (which is being developed into retirement flats) and Longman (which is boarded up and going to be next door to the new Inverness Court House), to the current campus at Beechwood. I did NC Digital Media Level 6, where I was suggested NC Media, but I missed to do it last year so I completed ECDL Advance Word and started on the Advanced Presentation. That's my next task to see about finishing that if I can.
The reason this could be my last course at Inverness College is because my parents are getting a divorce, and I have decided to support my mum through it all and after the whole matter is sorted.
I don't know what's in store for us all, but I hope that the future will be hopeful one for everyone.
Thank you for following me, and I maybe drop a post to let you know how I'm doing.
Wish us all the best of luck for the future.

180th Blog Post - Final Week Underway
Our final week is underway.
Today in our last Page Layout and Design class, Iain was asking us for our work to hand in, and I have handed in my completed work.
Alison wasn't in for Animation as she's at an important meeting in Perth, but she will be back tomorrow, so we can view our animations and ensure all the work for her is done.
Tomorrow will our last Comic and Graphic Novel class, and the last Digital Imaging class. Hopefully, I might be able to hand in my Digital Imaging images in to Alison and wait for the results.
Hard to believe that this is our last week of NC Media, and (part from ECDL Advanced Presentation) possibly my final course at Inverness College.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 35 - One Week Remains for Us and Me
It's official, our last week of NC Media, and possibly my final week of doing a proper course at college, is upon us.
In Comics, I was asked to give my comics strip a titles I had given a title to my graphic novel. I gave the title Ah wid lik' a dram please as it fitted in with the theme of the story. A Scottish Wildcat goes into a pub and asks the English Fox for a "dram". The fox thinks he's asking for a drum, and gets one of the drummers from Coldstream Guards to play a drum, but the Welsh Hound reveals that the wildcat was asking for whiskey.
In Digital Imaging, and during part of the Comics class, I used a scanner to scan a negative and I put it into my workbook for the Digital Imaging class before I had the workbook printed and handed in for Alison. Alison says that the animation class may not be due to the fact she'll be at a meeting in Perth, but the next Digital Imaging class will be on.
Today, during Media Project, Iain gave some of us a final PAT interview, asking how we felt the course had gone for and I feel that I have done well on the course, having learnt how to use Photoshop.
Then in Media Project, we finished our project by getting the credits done and making sure that everybody involved was mentioned. I went looking for a name for one of the drama students who performed as one of the "victims" for the Arrive Alive event, but thankfully, Brain found out when I couldn't.
For next week, I properly have past everything possible, but I will still go into college to ensure that everything is done. On Monday morning, I'll be checking my ECDL stuff before we complete our last three days of NC Media.
Next year will unsure for me as I still have my ECDL to sort out, and I have been considering about getting a job.
I hope that our last week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 35 - Animation About Done and Handed In
Our last two weeks of NC Media has begun.
On Monday, I came to college to do audio recordings for my animation, which was fun, however, when I tried to put them into my animation, they both didn't seem to work. It helps me understand why some animated films have their audio (voiceovers) are recorded before the animators do the animating. None the less, I tried an idea and, while it didn't work, I can say that it was a good idea. Instead I focused on the finishing the four scenes, and turn them into video clips.
Today in Page Layout, we looked at our work and suggested what differences could be made to make them better, so I followed the suggestions and resubmitted my work back in for Iain and gave his newspaper back.
Back in Animation, I completed putting the final video together and put it into our college email link for Alison to find, well as the workbook for the animation class. I did upload my workbook for Digital Imaging, but then I found out that I was missing a key piece of the first outcome, so, due to Alison's other commitments, it might be next Thursday before I complete the workbook and the class. The final piece is doing a scan of a photo negative, but the scanner used is a slow one.
Tomorrow we find out about Comics and more of the Digital Imaging class, then there's Friday, and then one more week of NC Media.
I hope that the rest of this week and the whole of next week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

End of Week 34 - Editing of Animation and Media Project Video
Two Weeks of NC Media left! Yikes!
In Comics, I handed in my sketch book and now all we can do is wait for what Katie and the other markers have to say. In Digital Imaging, I showed Alison the altered images I had done and had printed, only to be told that it's to be in a book. I'm sure that I'll figure it all out.
In Media Project, we continued to work on our editing of the Arrive Alive video, including adding audio of a person from the emergency services talking through the process of what was happening, and editing any pauses he made. I continued my work on the credits and handed to Alex to finish and sort out.
During lunch break, I went back to my animation, but the images in Movie Maker are proving to be a problem, so I worked on my opening credits for my animation video, which I hope will be alright.
I hope that on Monday, I will be able to find a recorder and record my voice for my animation video's characters.
I hope that the final two weeks goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 34 - Preparing to finish Animation
Three weeks remaining! Yikes!
I was in on Monday to double check all my work, such as colouring my graphic novel for Comics tomorrow (I hope that it'll be enough). Tuesday, I was busy getting all of my altered images printed, but three couldn't print, so I had to sort them today and now they're all printed.
In Page Layout and Design, I have exerted my leaflet into a PDF file and past it onto Iain, and I hope that it's pass able.
My Animation video is almost finished, I was starting on my end credits and finding a piece of music for the end credits, and I must say I haven't done by bad.
But at the end of the day, my USB stick was playing fools with me (with just three weeks left too!). It has found itself in a habit of ejecting itself, while still being plugged in and with files on it still open, so I have had to ask Nick for help in sorting in getting my USB stick's files onto a new one, I just need to find the missing files and get them sorted.
Tomorrow is Comics, and for Digital Imaging, Alison will be late due to a meeting and I have my printed images to hand in.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

175th Blog Post - Review of Week 33 - Steady Progress
This week, I think I have made some good progress here and there.
In Comics, I drew a four page piece of a graphic novel, all I need to do is colour it, and hand in my sketchbook, but I still have doubts of whether I'll pass the class.
In Digital Imaging, all my images are now (I finished them on Monday), and now Alison wants us to print off our images we'r altered one the whole length of the class, then print our workbooks for her.
In Media Project, we have made more progress of the Arrive Alive video while I was asked by Jack to make a list of credits for the video's credits. Iain's PAT class did overlap as we don't have the original room now and he asked us to hand in the assessment for Outcome 2 of Intro to Media Industry with a review sheet he sent to us to put into our assessment so he had write what his review of it is.
Three weeks left, and I'm planning to go into college on Monday morning again and double check everything again.
I need to plan out what to do with my ECDL stuff, then we'll have to see what will happen next.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 33 - Goal for Animation Reached
In Page Layout, Iain gave us his review of our reviews of the newspapers and their magazines. Mine needed to be resubmitted, so I've made start to resubmission, but I hope to have it done by next week.
In Animation, I managed to get a camera during lunch break and got all my photos for my animation video all done. I have sorted into their scenes and arranged them in order and altered their duration. All I need to do now is to record some audio and put them into the scenes,, then get the scenes into one video and hopefully that will the animation video done.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us for we have about three weeks left!
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 32 - Progress for Digital Imaging and Media Project
This week has gone by very quickly.
In the Comics class, we were asked to hand in our work, so I handed in my sketchbook for the class, but I have doubts that I'll pass the class. If Iain asks about it, I will explain what I thought of the class and what have been done to make it more interesting.
In Digital Imaging, Alison had us going outside to take photos using a camera that uses negatives. What with all the digital cameras these days, I was happy to see such a camera and to take photos (two each for everyone), it certainly took me back. Then I continued with my fun with Photoshop and my images, managing to do two or three images. Between PAT and Media Project today, I managed to get about two or three more images done, with another two or three to go, then I'll hand it all in.
In PAT, we filled tick boxes on a page asking about the course since the last time we ticked boxes. In Media Project, we began to make progress with our video about the Arrive Alive event, although we had to change rooms and we might be using our usual room again, but one of the rooms with the Mac computers, but so far, so good.
According to Iain, we now have four weeks left, then we will able allowed to run for the hills. For me, I need to double check with my ECDL Advanced Presentation. I have asked Anne, but, while she told me the college doesn't do the ECDL anymore, she will have a look into it and see what I can do to complete, even if I may have to go the Moray College in Elgin.
I hope that the last month of NC Media at Inverness College goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 32 - Sorting Media Industry Class And Editing Animation
Today went by very quickly.
In Page Layout, we started the first half determining which of the three outcomes of Intro to the Media Industry we had completed and passed. So much so, I think we resubmitted our work for Iain to read. The remaining half of the class was editing our work for Page Layout.
In Animation, I was editing my images for my animation video by sorting the images for scene 2 and altering the duration of each image in the scenes. I asked Alison if I could get a camera early net week so I could make an early start on my animation for I hope to completed the taking of images as soon as possible.
Tomorrow is Comics, and I have found a Tintin comics, The Black Island, in both English and proper Scottish accent, so I'll be commenting on the differences. Then it's Digital Imaging, hopefully I'll get more images done.
I hope that this week goes well for us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 31
The end of another week at college.
In Comics, Katie was assessing another class's presentations, so she let us carry with our work. In Digital Imaging, Alison talked to me about my work so far and suggests that I use different image file types in my filing.
Downloading my images for the Animation class was hardest part, but easily sorted. If you have a OneDrive, I'll admit that it's good for storing files, but a nightmare for retrieving the same files if it's all not in a zip-file. I had to ask Alison if she still had the memory card from the camera I used to download the images, which was successful, all I need to do is put them in Movie Maker and sort the images into the right scenes, and the right order.
In PAT, most of what was discussed was about a filming happening at the college with the drama students. In Media Project, Jack and I attempted a start on the interviews from the Arrive Alive road safety even we filmed and photographed earlier this semester. The audio was a problem as there was deep echo and somebody's phone's ringtone. Hopefully we'll get the two videos finished before the end of the semester.
Next week, I'll need to get more of my animation done, just hope that I won't work overtime at college over it.
I hope that next week goes well for us all.
Wish us all luck.

170th Blog Post - Week 31 - A Day of Animation
Today has been the longest day of the course so far.
In Page Layout and Design, I was busy double checking my information on my leaflet for Iain, while finding out more about the magazine and newspaper review. I managed to make a start on my reviews and completed the magazine one, just need to do the newspaper one before the end of the week. For the information about the leaflet, I might have needed some screenshots of the work as it went along, so I think I'll need to double back a bit, or start a rough layout to get screenshots of the work as it went along.
Animation was a busy day. After making a quick checklist for what has been done and what needs to be done, I got into the making of the animation video, and I have completed scene 2, and made a short start on scene 3. It took a while to figure out how to work the tripod, the camera steady and keep the images focused. I hope that the images turn out alright and I'll get to continue on the remaining two scenes with only five weeks (Yikes!) left before they're due to be viewed (Double Yikes!).
Tomorrow is the Comics class (what confusing instructions will I be getting after only just got to understand them last week?). Then it's Digital Imaging, and Alison is going to talk to the class about the class and the work so far, and she's me picked me to go first so she can "flow" through the class's seating arrangement.
I hope that tomorrow goes well.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 30 - May The Fourth...
The end of Week 30 (Week 12 for Semester 2) - leaving just five weeks of the course left (Time does fly!).
In Comics, I have done some reviews of comics and graphic novels I have read, but for the practical part, the drawings I have done have been announced as a "storyboard". The practical side will be storyboarded, then photographed, then drawn into the sketch books. I do wish the instructions makes its mind up!
In Digital Imaging, I managed to have fun with three images, and Alison has told me she'll be checking up on my work next week. I hope she'll enjoy the work so far.
In PAT, little happened.
The Media Project seemed to be in two sections. The first was about checking the paperwork on the two projects we have been doing in class, the Arrive Alive road safety event, and the FLOW Photofest that was just outside the college last month. The second sections (after a good, and needed lunch) was editing the Arrive Alive video, picking videos (after trying to locate some of them) and then editing them down to a reasonable length and altered the audio when there was sirens wailing. Some of the videos, we've agreed, are good, just the audio has mixed reviews. The outdoor audio is alright, but the indoor audio is echoey and may not as loud as it may need to be. But despite all that, we had good fun in the editing and it made me feel like we were at last making progress on the video.
Today is the 4th of May, and some people call it Star Wars Day, in reference of the famous quote, "May The Force Be With You", spoofed as "May The Fourth Be With You". Kieran made a joke concerning the 5th of May, "Revenge of Fifth". Daniel was all for the joke, but then we realised that we won't be in college tomorrow, as it's a Saturday. Ah well, better luck next year then.
One of us (I won't say who) clearly wasn't all for Sat Wars quotes, so I had a go at Star Trek's "Live Long and Prosper".
I hope that next week will go well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 30 - Less Than 6 Weeks Left
We've got six weeks left (Yikes!)
In Page Layout, I think that I completed my leaflet for the class, but I think that I'll need Iain to see it before I hand it in. I must admit, it was good fun making the leaflet.
In Animation, Alison gave us a checklist for the class so far and what was needed to be done. After updating the workbook, I went over the first scene of my animation in Windows Movie Maker and had a little fun with the timing of the images. I just need to do the remaining three scenes, so next week, I might be working during my lunch breaks, or staying at college a little longer.
I feel more ready for the Comics and Graphic Novels class tomorrow as I have completed my short comics strip, and have done my reviews for the class of the sources given the sources I researched. I just need to make a start on the short piece from the graphic novel, and I hope that it will turn out alright.
Lets hope that this week will go well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 29 - A Day of Reviewing Ourselves
This week has been a week of reviewing not only our works, but ourselves as well.
In Comics, Katie has explained, very clearly, what I need to do for the class, and I have worked on my short comics strip for the class. In it, a Scottish Wildcat goes in a bar and asks for a "dram", but the English Fox thinks he's asking for a drum, only for a Welsh Hound to reveal that the Wildcat is asking for a glass of whisky. Now I need to review some comic strips and a piece of a graphic novel for the class. In PAT today, we discussed the class in how we felt of the class and of our work, and we've agreed that while there may be poor planning of the class, we might not have put as much as work as we'd like to have.
In Digital Imaging, I have completed altering my first of at least ten images for the class.
In PAT, as I have mentioned, we discussed about how we felt of the course so far, all its ups and downs. Iain told us how the classes are sorted by the SQA for the courses.
In Media Project, Brain talked about storyboarding, and asked us to do quick storyboard of two people meeting in a restaurant/cafe. We noted how the cameras would pan or zoom in/out on the people arriving and meeting. It was good fun. Then we looked at editing in Adobe Premium Pro.
Earlier this week I discussed the birth of a royal prince, who has been named Prince Louis.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us, just six weeks left.
Wish us all luck.

Week 29
Week 29 has begun!
St. George's Day was quite a day for the Royal Family with the birth of a prince. For the prince, there are many Georges: born on St George's Day; has an older brother called George; and his uncle, Prince Harry, is getting married at St George's Chapel next month.
In Page Layout, I've made a start in the InDesign software for the leaflet, I might need to resize the font of the lettering. In Animation, I updated my workbook and completed my storyboard for the animation project over my lunch break. Now, I just need to double check the paperwork, then got on with making the animation.
Today we had an event called Heritage where students going round the college dressed as people from different areas of the world and I think doing some performances. But the biggest event was down in the reception area where there was a display of event about Air Traffic Control and its future. One display screen had Heathrow Airport. I talked to the two men running the stall that when I was a kid living in Northumberland, I used to visit Newcastle Airport and watch the planes land on a viewing platform on the roof (I don't know if it's still there or not, or even if it's allowed or people to go there), and I commented that if my mum was there she'd complain that there one thing missing, the Concorde.
For the Comics and Graphic Novels class tomorrow, for Outcome 3, I have made a start for the comics and part of the graphic novel.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

165th Blog Post - End of Week 28 - Less Than 8 Weeks Left
This week has gone by very quickly - and we have less than 8 weeks of the course left (Yikes!)
The Comics and Graphic Novels class is perhaps the only class this semester that dos likely not planned properly. Katie wasn't in so Ken from the Advertising class last seamster took over, telling us that we had to write a 1500 word essay, only to tell us in the next class (Digital Imaging) that that it wasn't the task at all, but make a start on our comics strips.
In the Digital Imaging class, we were double checking on our work so far and showing Alison what photos we had for Outcome 3. I have started planning on what to do with some of my photos.
PAT today was quick so nothing of interest happened for me. In Media Project, some of starting making a video on the Flow event just outside the college before the holidays with Adobe Premium Pro. We had a go at the software and discussed what we thought on the video as it progressed. For reference I showed them the video I did for NC Digital Media Level 6 just three years ago (Zonks! Is that all?).
It looks like next week will be getting into the work a bit more. I'm thinking of taking or finding more photos for the Digital Imaging class.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Quiet Wednesday Back
We returned to college today.
In Page Layout, we continued with our small projects with me deciding which books to review, writing small pieces of their plots, what I thought of them and who their authors were (though I'm starting to think of removing the last bit in terms of much to write on the pages).
In Animation, I was updating my workbook for the class and going over with Alison what she thinks of the work so far and what stills needs to be done. So far for the animation, I have done the first scene, just three more to go, then get the timing for the shots to make the animation in the video work and put audio in (the sound effects might be from the public domain).
Today well very well, hard to believe that it has gone by as quick as it did.
Comics and Graphic Novels class tomorrow (oh joy!), then Alison again for the Digital Imaging, and I have some images ready for the class.
I hope that the rest of the week goes for us.
Wish us all luck.

What A Easter Holidays
The Easter Holidays have been a reasonably quiet (and quick) holidays - now the period I call "The Season of Assessments" will begin at college.
I'm sorry that April's Fools Day wasn't a college day as I was hoping to get back at Iain for confusing me over the start of the Christmas Holidays, but I still hope to get even.
We had Winter's Last Hurrah here in Inverness during the first week. Tuesday and Wednesday saw us waking to snow in the mornings and Wednesday gave us hailstones. Thursday was sunny while Friday was cloudy and grey and cool, but neither was too cold to have snow. For the second week, there was sunny and cloudy spells, with the second Friday starting with some rain in the morning.
I have caught up with the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast as much as I could. I managed to watch Katarina Johnson-Thompson finish first in the 800 metres race in the Heptathlon and winning gold for the event (Well Done Katarina Johnson-Thompson!). I enjoyed watching BBC 's Mike Bushell's slashing interview with the English Swimming team, before the gold winning English Netball team attempted a similar thing.
I have been thinking on a theme for Digital Imaging about points of view and what sort of genres to use, such as cityscapes and landscapes, in and around Inverness. I just needed to take the photos (which I have done) and choose which ones to go for before I get back to college and alter them (I'm thinking of about 15 of them) on Photoshop.
I've been starting to plan out my studies more with the completion of NC Media this year before finishing ECDL Advanced Presentation.
I hope that this term till the end of the course goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

End of Week 27 - Happy Easter!
Happy Good Friday.
Yesterday went by very fast. In Intro to Comics and Graphic Novels, Katie allowed us to work on while she was being reviewed. I looked up Lord Snooty and Tintin, although I must admit to have read Tintin more than his lordship Snooty (but his pieces were amusing to read).
While we were having a break after the class, and discussing what we're doing over the holidays, and reviewing Kieran's jokes, Alison found us and told us the her class was on after all. She was being reviewed later in the day. So, in class, I made a start on Outcome 3, by creating a workbook document for the outcome, and double checking everything with Alison's classes, and so far so good. All I need to do is find theme for Outcome 3 and take the photos to work on in class.
Today, being Good Friday, we have begun out Easter Holidays, and we are off for two full weeks.
I hope that we enjoy our holidays and that college goes well when we get back.
Wish us all luck and Happy Easter.

Week 27 - A Two Day Week For Us - And One Day Left
Just one more day before the Easter Holidays begins.
In Page Layout, I started planning the text layout for my leaflet project. Just need to decide which books (three of them) to do for the leaflet.
In Animation, I didn't get to do more scenes as Alison was concerned that the images I took didn't seem right, she set me the task of resizing the images. Thankfully Alison has asked us to work on the animation over the holidays.
Just tomorrow left, then we're off for two weeks, and I'm looking forward to it. We'll see what Katie wants of us for Intro to Comics and Graphic Novels. Alison's Digital Imaging class may not happen as Alison will be doing a review with another course tomorrow, but might take the register for us.
I hope that the last day before the Easter Holidays goes well.
Wish us all luck.

160th Blog Post - End of Week 26 & Easter beckons
This week has been interesting with attendance, with only eight of in class at the end of the week. Thankfully nobody has dropped from the course.
Thanks to Kieran on Tuesday, I managed to do well with my presentation in the Intro to Comics class. But I still hate the theory, just wish to start on the practical side, and maybe make a comics strip, or a couple of pages of a graphic novel. In Digital Imaging, I finished the workbook for Outcome 2, and handed it in. Then I downloaded the images from my animation project and put the images into Windows Movie Maker, with the duration of the images 0.2 seconds long, removing the blurred images, giving a video length of about ten seconds and I was impressed with the result. Just 3 more scenes, and sound to finish the video. But that will be next week and after Easter.
Today, since I had my PAT meeting last week, I was given permission to come in later than usual, but I still can in all the same. In Media Project, we were busy sorting out the workbook for both projects. Thankfully Brian helped talking our way through it all.
We will be in for two days next week, with Friday off because it will be Good Friday, and the first day of the two-week long Easter Holidays, and I'm looking forward to it.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 26 - Not Bad A Start
Today was not too bad a day.
In Page Layout, we started to plan our projects, I'm doing my project on making a leaflet for my book review website I created last semester in Web Page Design. For what will be typed into the leaflet, we might use Word, then Notepad, then put the information into our projects.
In Animation, I've made a start on making my animation video. Allison helped create the background, set up the camera and I started taking photos. The end of class came quickly and I'll need to see the photos tomorrow.
For tomorrow, we have a presentation for Intro to Comics and Graphic Novels. Thankfully Kieran was more helpful in telling what I needed to do for the presentation than Katie was, so I feel more hopeful for the presentation. In Digital Imaging, I just need one more photo to play with on Photoshop, then the little workbook for the Outcome will be ready for handing in.
This week will be the last full week at college. Next week, we're in till Thursday as Friday will be Good Friday.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 25 - PAT meeting and Mini Beast
This week seems to have been blown away.
Thursday was a mixed day. Intro to Comics wasn't the best part of the day with instructions very unclear as to what was to be done. Thankfully Digital Imaging was by far better, was the instructions was clear and we had fun with Photoshop, taking images I found online or we took on Photoshop and altered the images, logging them and working on our workbooks showing the images before and after the alteration with details of the changes. Just one more image to do for next week.
In PAT this morning, I had a one-to-one meeting with Iain and told him of what I thought of the course so far. Then in Media Project, we went outside the college building to take video recordings of an outdoor exhibition near the pond/"loch", taking shots (such as panning shots) of the college and the photos on display. The only downside of the whole thing was the Mini Beast from the East blowing cold winds. We've had a quick look the videos, I think that they weren't too bad. The exhibition is done by FLOW Photofest, which has done exhibitions at Eden Court Theatre in Inverness, and is called In This Place. You can keep up with current projects here. I hope that you'll enjoy the projects. There was about a dozen photos, but one caught by attention, a photo of daffodils protected by a wired wore used at a construction site with some grass with a grey background and diggers.
I hope that next week will go well for all of us. Hopefully, we might be able to start on our animation pieces, I just need to know if we're using audio and soundtrack in the background and what software to use. And we have two weeks before we break for Easter.
Wish us all luck.
Week 25 - Day of Assessment, Printing and a Loss for Science
Today was a busy day at college.
First, in Page Layout and Design, we had an assessment, and Iain had the door closed and locked so if anyone was late they couldn't get in. I think that I did my best for the assessment.
Then in Animation, I was writing up the plot for my new idea for the animation piece, then, using copyright free images of seascapes I had found, had them turned to look like a painting then had them printed for A3 size. The method was easy, I'll just have to remember the method if I have to use another background image. In the animation video, I'm planning that a police boat is transporting a criminal, when the criminal is helped to escape, and taken to a hideout to open a safe, but the police soon catch up.
I've got to get a minimum of 3 images for Digital Imaging tomorrow, so I'll better get a camera for that job.
A sad day to hear that Stephen Hawking has died. Fly among the stars Mr Hawking. Lets hope that his science research continued for future generations.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 24 - Is the end of Winter in site?
Quick end of the week comes to college. The only snow in site of Inverness is on the high mountain around the city, but there is still a chill in the air.
Thursday seems to have gone by very quickly. In the Intro to Graphic Novels and Comics, we were talking more about reviewing comics and graphic novels. In the Digital Imaging, the class was playing catch up from last week while we experimented more with Photoshop. For next week, I need a minimum of three images to work on in class.
For Animation, I have decided, just make the naming of the animation piece easier, I'll be using Lego for the animation piece, using a couple of Lego sets I have. They are a police boat that transport a prisoner and an island hideout for a bugler. Have told Allison, and she says that if I'm for it, go for it. And I hope that I can make the piece a good one.
Today, PAT was quick, and Iain has started one-to-one interviews with us. Since I didn't have an interview today, I went to the LRC and worked on another animation piece called a Tiff using Photoshop. In it I have library scene with books flying across the screen's scene. It wasn't easy, but I managed to make something.
In Media Project, we went to a talk in the Lecture Theatre from a man visiting to talk about virtual reality and it's development today. He has set up some for the local area. I can't remember his company's name, but when I do I'll let you know. For the rest the class, we were told of some drama students who need help in filming a scene or two and types of shots they'd like to have. The only down side of the class was the slowness of the computer and how the screen worked. Hopefully it'll be better next week.
I hope that next week goes well for us all.
Wish us all luck.

Week 24 Begins
This week of college has begun well.
In Page Layout we worked on another task given by Iain with an assessment for the class next week. I think that I managed to the task well, but I might still need more practise.
But the fun part of the day came after Page Layout. Today at college we were having an "Apprentice Week" event, we many groups coming to college, some were of the college. But one of them caught my eye, and it was a company that dealt with slate, and it reminded of a holiday in Wales near a narrow gauge railway, where the dressing of slate was shown to the public. I told the man at the event about it, and he allowed me to have a go at dressing the edge of a slate. It was fun.
In Animation, I started to build on some of my characters for the video. I might need to sort out the scale of the characters and sort out the story of the piece.
I hope that this week goes for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of Week 23 - The Beast From The East Lingers
The Beast From The East has given a cold end of the week here at college.
Yesterday, there was only four of us, with a fifth joining near the last class. In the Intro to Comics class, Outcome 1 is almost due. In Digital Imaging, we worked more with Photoshop, but we didn't want to go too far ahead of everyone off due to the snow.
Today, we started with, but lost one due to feeling unwell. In PAT we discussed more about the course and our views of it. We asked what was in store after this course. In Media Project, Brian started showing us Adobe Premier Pro, which was quite interesting. During my time on the Digital Media courses, I was taught how to use Windows Movie Maker, which is now being discontinued, I just don't understand why, it worked perfectly! All we did was take abut half a dozen videos and experiment with them on the computers, editing the pieces and placing where we thought they suited well. I'm beginning to look forward working with Adobe Premier Pro more.
I hope that next week well go well for us all here at college, and it won't be as cold for us.
Wish us all luck.

White Start to Week 23
The Beast from the East is here, and leaving white here in Inverness.
Today in Page Layout, we were asked to follow a set of instruction Iain gave us on creating a three page leaflet in Adobe InDesign. It was a little tricky, but we managed to create our leaflets. Maybe I'll practice the exercise again to be more confident.
In Animation, I've started to work on my storyboard for the animation piece and we looked on the internet for images in the public domain we could use as an inspiration for one of our videos' scenes. I found images of forests and a construction site. Using an image of a forest, I used Photoshop to put in forest animals. Allison says that we'll be going into more detail in Image Design tomorrow.
They say that the Beast from the East brings the cold, and I'll say it does. During lunch, the fire alarm went off, and we went outside into the cold where we waited till it was save to go back inside. The fire alarm upset my lunch plans as I hoped to double check my college work.
Hopefully, tomorrow will go better.
Wish us all luck.

Review of the Road Safety Event footage
The end of another week at college.
Yesterday in Intro to Comics and Graphic Novels, we continued to look at the differences between the two. In Digital Imaging we were asked to photograph some of the art students putting their work up for a display in the study area, pick ones we liked, then hand them in for the Market Department.
Today we were looking at the footage of the event. Some of the outdoor shots were very good, and Brian, our lecturer, says that some may have to be edited for the best bits. The footage of the event indoors was not too bad, but when people were specking, we couldn't hear them clearly. It was here that we talked about editing some of our videos and Brain asked us to start creating a logbook about the project.
During break between PAT this morning and the start of class, I took a look in the internet about last week's event, and I found a lot from the BBC, the Highland Council, the Inverness Courier (a local newspaper), the Press and Journal (another local newspaper) and the Inverness College websites.
Debbie Gilham was the lady who lost her daughter, Georgia, in a car crash a couple of years ago and came to speck about what happened and the aftermath. I know a couple of people who know Debbie, but what shocked me a lot was that Georgia was studying at my old school before college, Culloden Academy. I was shocked that Georgia and I walked the same corridors, and might have known some of the same teachers.
I hope that you will be careful on the road.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

New look at Animation
In Page Layout today we started looking at laying out a page using InDesign. I think that I still need to understand InDesign more.
In Animation, we were asked to tell Allison what techniques we are going to use and what the stories might be about. I've decided to change my animation idea. Instead of Lego, I'll use model for a stop-motion animation piece in which forest animals work together to stop construction workers from building on where the forest is and I hope it will be funny.
Then we looked at how to use Photoshop to create an animation, although I think that I will need to practise and experiment a little bit. Thankfully, we've been given a 4 week period to try to use Photoshop to make an animation piece.
I was surprised that my previous post, got very (and I mean very) little views, so I do suggest that you look at it, and start thinking about road safety. This Friday, we're going to go over the event in class and see what we took with our cameras.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

150th Blog Post - Road Safety Event
This week has ended in full.
On Thursday we looked at the difference between comics and graphic novels while Digital Imaging, we looked more at Photoshop, such as layering images.
But today was the highlight of the week.
We started early and get set up. Brian, our lecturer, had brought cameras for recording the event and interviews and cameras for taking still images. I was part of the interviewing group, but I did go outside to take images of the fire engine and ambulance. We had the car inside the reception area of the college, and it wasn't till they pushed the remains of the car out through the door after the event at the end of the day that I believed that they did get it in through the doors. A couple of drama students played as the victims, one taken into the ambulance and a dummy represented as the "dead" victim. Inside everybody seemed hooked to the event as it unfolded. Outside, every time we tried to record a video or take a photo, people got into the shot without taking notice of us with our cameras, and it rained and it was cold, but I think that we managed to get good shots and recordings.
After the "rescue", the car was covered up so as not to distress a lady who had lost her daughter in a crash a couple of years ago and had come to talk to the crowd about what happened before and after the crash, and asking everybody to take care while driving, earning an applause. Even our college principal had a quick word of being careful with driving.
After the event, we managed to get a couple of interviews about the event and road safety before returning our class and handed in our cameras. Hopefully we'll see our work next week and start to edit them together. Brain says that after the editing, we might work on another project for the rest of the semester.
I hope that you will be careful when you're driving on the road.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Week 21 - Snow Still Lingers
Today went by very quickly. On Monday and Tuesday, we had some snow, but by the end of today, it was mostly all gone. Winter is still clinging on.
Today, we had an event called the ReFreshers' Fayre, a bit like the Freshers' Fayre, but on a smaller scale. We had the Police (and I behaved), the Student Association and the SkillZone telling more information of what a student could ask for.
In Page Layout and Design we continued to look at Abode InDesign. We looked at how to create columns, continue overlapped texts and Iain was asking us on what articles we might write, but first he asked us to research certain terms of page layout.
In Animation, we continued to think of what videos we are going to make. I am tempted to do an animation with Lego figures, but Allison our lecturer isn't so sure. Maybe I could an animation with models, but I'm ruling a Lego animation out. One thing we discussed was where we are going to do our animations.
Friday is going to be the big day of the Road Safety event. I will be there filming interviews with people and asking them about the event and I hope it goes well.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review of the Second Week of Semester 2
This week has come and gone very quickly, I just do't know where it has gone.
Thursday started with Intro to Comics and Graphic Novels, and we showed what we drew for our homework, and I think that I did well. We've been asked to decide what story we might do our graphic novels on.
In Digital Imaging, we went outside the campus building and took some abstract photos, which was fun to do, but I will still need to understand Photoshop.
Our PAT class was where our timetable said we were to be last week. During this time we discussed about what sort of classes the course could have next year.
In Media Project, we practiced with cameras, taking photos and making video recordings, taking in what light there was in the area the even is to take place. Next week is the event, and I hope that it goes well.
I hope that next week goes well for all of us.
Wish pal all luck.

Media Project Meeting and Task for Animation
Today for Page Layout, we looked at some magazines we brought in and how the pages are laid out for the readers.
After Page Layout, we went down the reception area where we had a meeting about the Road Safety even happening next week. We discussed about the area, where the cameras were going to and how of them there're going to go and where the audience will be viewing the event. Chances are we will talk more about this in Media Project on Friday.
In Animation, we were asked to think of an animation we're to make. We looked at the start of making our workbooks for the class. For our pieces, we've been asked to think of the techniques (such as stop-motion), the story of the piece and the theme. I'll need to think hard of the task.
I hope that the rest of the week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Review the First Week of Semester 2
It's the end of the first week of our second semester.
In the Graphic Novels class, we just practised our drawing skills with sketches of hands, faces, chairs and objects. It was quite interesting doing the sketches, and we have been asked to do a short piece for next week.
Digital Imaging went by very quickly and we started looking at how to change images to how we'd want them to be. We've been asked to take abstract photos, and I have done that today.
Today had quite a start. Our PAT class started at 9 o'clock, but the class was where our timetable said we were to be, and by the time I found the class by quarter to ten, everyone was finishing early. The rest of the day was taken up by a four hour class called Media Project where we've been asked to make a video on road safety. There going to be an event about road safety at the college so we plan to photo and film it on the day later this month.
I hope that next week goes well for us on the course and that this semester goes just as well.
Wish us all luck.

145th Blog Post - Semester 2 Begins
Today, we have started Semester 2.
Despite having a class at 9 o'clock, I wasn't there, as I had a dentist appointment, and I couldn't change it. This make the first Page Layout class the first class I have missed on the course.
The only class of the day I did attend was the Animation class, where we talked about what sort of animation there is, such as stop motion (we used Wallace and Gromit as an example, after all we've grown up watching them) and photograph motion (we were shown a video of a time-lapse video of a lake). We've been asked to think of a project and what animation are we going to use.
Tomorrow we are going to start looking at Graphic Novels, and I'm looking forward to it.
I hope that the rest of the week goes well for us.
Wish us all luck.

End of Semester 1
The first semester of NC Media has ended, and all of our work has been handed in.
Tracy bumped into us today and has told us that we have passed Event Organisation. For Iain's classes, he has told us that he'll let us know over the weekend.
Next week will for any resits or any reworks need to be done, I hope that I won't need to go in.
Looks we're having next week off before we start semester 2, we just need our new timetable.
I hope that semester 2 goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

Snow and New PAT
What I think is the final week of the first semester has begun. We've got snow up here in Inverness, and it's not too bad to walk, it will when the snow turns to ice that will be the problem.
Today, we were just working on our webpages with Iain, who has revealed that he will be our fourth PAT of the course since Valerie is unwell. We will be handed our webpages in on Friday. Our new timetable was discussed during class, but I didn't all the details as I was working on my webpages.
In Photography tomorrow, we will be sorting all our files and photos to hand in to Iain.
I hope that this week goes well for all of us.
Wish us all luck.

End of Returning Week
Our first week back at college is over.
In Understanding the Creative Process, I showed my storyboards to Lorraine as if I presenting to Tv commissioners, and she was impressed with the work. In Intro to the Media Industry, we got all our assignments for the outcomes together and handed them in (again). In Photography, I got my workbook up to date and I handed it in today, due to the size of the file.
In Advertising, my group had got together and we quickly worked on the research for sports in the Cairngorms, while Alex worked on a poster for the group and handed it in. In our PAT class, we talked about what had changed and what hadn't changed and what we thought f the course so far. In Webpage Design, I continued with my website, just need photos for the pages, and I think it will be ready to hand in. For Communications, I passed it before the holidays, so I don't need to attend it anymore.
Next week will be our last week of semester one, the next week after will be for any resits needed, then the week after that, semester two will begin, just need to the new timetable.
I hope that next week goes well for us.
Wish us all luck.

Back at College
We're back! Christmas is over! A New Year has begun!
Today was quiet for our Event class is mostly done. Iain had us sorting what we had left for him, I worked on my website design project.
According to Iain, we have this week and next week. The week after next will for any resits, then the semester will change, and so will our new timetable.
I hope that this year will be much better than the last, and the rest of the semester goes well for us.
Wish us all luck.
